AIAPGET 2026 Internship Cut-off Extended to 31 October: What It Means

The National Testing Agency put out a public notice on 22 July 2026 that changes who can sit for AIAPGET-2026, the entrance test for MD/MS postgraduate seats in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy. The Compulsory Rotatory Internship completion cut-off, the date by which your one-year internship has to be done for you to be eligible, has moved from 31 August 2026 to 31 October 2026.

One thing this notice does not change: the AIAPGET-2026 online application still closes on 30 July 2026 at 9:00 PM. That is a separate date from the internship cut-off, and mixing the two up is the one mistake worth avoiding here.

What Changed and What Did Not

NTA had already opened AIAPGET-2026 registration on 10 July 2026. After that, the agency says it received a large number of representations from candidates asking for the internship cut-off to be pushed back. Acting on communications from the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) and the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH), NTA extended it by two months, from 31 August to 31 October 2026, for all four systems AIAPGET covers: Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy.

Everything else stays as it was in the 10 July notice and the AIAPGET-2026 Information Bulletin: eligibility conditions, exam schedule, and every other instruction.

Why the Internship Cut-off Matters at All

AIAPGET is only open to BAMS, BHMS, BUMS or BSMS graduates who have completed, or can certify they will complete, a full one-year Compulsory Rotatory Internship (CRI) and hold registration with the relevant AYUSH council. Before this notice, a graduate whose internship finished on, say, 20 September 2026 would have missed the 31 August line entirely and been locked out of AIAPGET-2026, forced to wait a full year for the next cycle. The new 31 October cut-off brings that entire group back into eligibility for this year.

This Has Happened Before

This is not a one-off. NTA made the identical move for AIAPGET 2023: the internship completion cut-off that year was also extended from 31 August to 31 October, also following correspondence from NCISM. Two extensions, three years apart, same two-month shift, same reasoning. If you are planning your internship dates around a future AIAPGET cycle, it is worth knowing this kind of adjustment is not unprecedented.

The Full AIAPGET 2026 Timeline

• 10 July 2026: Original public notice, online application form goes live.
• 30 July 2026, 9:00 PM: Online application closes. Unchanged by this notice.
• 22 August 2026: AIAPGET-2026 exam date, a computer-based test of 120 questions in 120 minutes.
• 31 October 2026: New internship completion cut-off for eligibility (moved from 31 August).

Who This Actually Helps

If your Compulsory Rotatory Internship completes anywhere between 1 September and 31 October 2026, you were excluded from AIAPGET-2026 under the old rule and are now eligible under the new one. That eligibility change does not extend your time to apply. You still have to register and submit the AIAPGET-2026 application by 30 July, the same as every other candidate, and provide your internship completion certificate at counselling once it is actually done.
