Undergraduate degree exploring human behaviour, cognition, mental health, developmental and social psychology.
BA Psychology is a three-year undergraduate programme that introduces students to the scientific study of human mind and behaviour. The curriculum spans biological bases of behaviour, cognitive processes, developmental psychology, social psychology, clinical psychology, counselling and psychometric testing. Psychology is one of the fastest-growing fields in India due to increasing awareness of mental health, making this one of the most in-demand arts degrees.
Students from any stream who are interested in understanding human behaviour, mental health, counselling, organisational behaviour and research should apply. The programme suits aspiring clinical psychologists, counsellors, HR professionals, researchers and those who wish to pursue MA or MSc Psychology followed by RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) recognised clinical training.
You will study biological and neurological bases of behaviour, sensation and perception, learning and conditioning, memory and cognition, personality theories, abnormal psychology and psychopathology, developmental psychology across the lifespan, social psychology, organisational psychology, psychological testing and measurement, and an introduction to counselling skills.
Most BA Psychology programmes admit students through CUET for central universities or merit-based selection. Lady Shri Ram College (DU), Fergusson College Pune and Christ University Bangalore are among the most sought-after institutions. Some colleges have English proficiency and aptitude-based shortlisting. Applications open between March and June.
