CENTAC has opened UG NEET 2026 online applications for MBBS, BDS, BAMS and B.V.Sc. & A.H. seats in Puducherry. Quotas, eligibility, application fees, the certificate rules that get applications rejected, and the 6 August 5.00 p.m. deadline, straight from the official notification.
CENTAC has opened online applications for first-year MBBS, BDS, BAMS and B.V.Sc. & A.H. seats in Puducherry for the academic year 2026-2027. The application window opened on 30 July 2026 and closes on 6 August 2026 at 5.00 p.m. Only candidates who qualified in NEET UG 2026 can apply, and the entire application is filled online at www.centacpuducherry.in.
That is one week, start to finish. Below is what the notification, Ref. No. CENTAC/UG-NEET/2026/01 dated 30.07.2026, actually says, written in plain language, including the certificate rules that quietly get applications rejected every single year.
Who Runs This Admission
The Centralised Admission Committee, better known as CENTAC, works under the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Puducherry, and operates from Kamarajar Manimandapam, Karuvadikuppam, Puducherry – 605 008.
CENTAC conducts one common admission process for first-year seats in the Government and self-financing Medical, Dental, Ayurveda and Veterinary colleges of the U.T. of Puducherry. You submit a single application to CENTAC. You do not apply to those colleges one by one, and no college in this list can admit you on its own.
Courses and Quotas Open This Year
The notification covers four course groups, and the quotas available are not the same for all four.
- Medical (M.B.B.S.): Government Quota, U.T. of Puducherry Minority Quota (Telugu), All India Management Quota, NRI Quota
- Dental (B.D.S.): Government Quota, U.T. of Puducherry Minority Quota (Telugu), All India Management Quota, NRI Quota
- Ayurveda (B.A.M.S.): Government Quota, All India Management Quota (opens only from Round 3)
- Veterinary (B.V.Sc. & A.H.): National Self-Supporting Quota, NRI Quota
Two points students miss on a first read. Ayurveda has no Telugu minority or NRI quota in this notification, and its management quota does not open until Round 3 of counselling. Veterinary is even narrower: CENTAC is inviting applications only for National Self-Supporting and NRI seats in B.V.Sc. & A.H., not for the full range of quotas.
What SS, Management and NRI Actually Mean Here
These words are used loosely in coaching centres and WhatsApp groups, so it is worth being exact:
- Government Quota means seats reserved for residents of the U.T. of Puducherry, at government fees.
- All India Management Quota is not a side door. It is a fee category inside the same CENTAC merit process, open to candidates from outside Puducherry as well, allotted by NEET rank in the same counselling rounds.
- Self-Supporting (SS), called National Self-Supporting for veterinary, is the same idea: a higher-fee seat filled through the same official merit list.
- NRI Quota covers NRI, NRI Sponsored, OCI, OCI Sponsored and Foreign National candidates for M.B.B.S. and B.D.S., and NRI or OCI candidates for B.V.Sc. & A.H.
- NRI Sponsored means the candidate is not the NRI, but is being sponsored by a relative who is, as defined in the brochure.
Every one of these seats, including management and NRI seats, is allotted through CENTAC counselling on merit. None of them is bought.
Who Can Apply Under Which Quota
The notification sets nationality and residence conditions quota by quota:
- Government Quota: residents of the U.T. of Puducherry.
- All India (Management) / National-SS / Self-supporting: residents of the U.T. of Puducherry, residents of any other state, or OCI card holders whose card was obtained before 04.03.2021.
- Minority (Telugu) Management Quota: residents of the U.T. of Puducherry.
- NRI Quota in M.B.B.S. and B.D.S.: NRI, NRI Sponsored, OCI, OCI Sponsored, or Foreign National.
- NRI Quota in B.V.Sc. & A.H.: NRI or OCI.
The 04.03.2021 date on OCI cards is not a CENTAC invention. It comes from the national rule on how OCI card holders are treated in Indian admissions, and cards issued after that date are handled differently. If your OCI card was issued after 4 March 2021, read the brochure carefully before choosing a quota.
Application Fees
Fees depend on the quota you apply under, not the course:
- Government Quota (residents of Puducherry), SC / ST / PwD: ₹500
- Government Quota (residents of Puducherry), all others: ₹1,000
- Management Quota: ₹2,000
- NRI / NRI Sponsored / OCI / OCI Sponsored / Foreign National: ₹5,000
The Certificate Rules That Get Applications Rejected
This is the section worth reading twice. If you are claiming Residence of Puducherry, CENTAC wants renewed certificates dated on or after 01.01.2026. A certificate from 2024 or early 2025 sitting in your file will not do.
Upload these, as applicable to you:
- 1Residence Certificate, dated on or after 01.01.2026.
- 2Community Certificate. The notification is blunt here: a certificate issued in the format meant for Central Educational Institutions will not be entertained. It has to be in the state format.
- 3EWS Quota certificate, issued by the Revenue Department on or after 01.04.2026.
- 4Income Certificate, obtained on or after 01.04.2026.
- 5Regional Reservation certificate for Karaikal, Mahe or Yanam, if that applies to you.
- 6Special Reservation certificate, if you are claiming one of these categories:
- Freedom Fighter (FF), issued by the Freedom Fighter Cell
- UDID card, for a Person with Benchmark Disability (PwBD)
- Ex-Serviceman (ESM), issued by the Department of Sainik Welfare
- Meritorious Sports Person (MSP)
- Government School Quota, supported by a Transfer Certificate from the school last studied, showing continuous study in Government Schools run by the Government of Puducherry from Standard 1 to 12
- 7Telugu Minority Quota certificate: a T.C. or a certificate issued from school records stating mother tongue as TELUGU, from the school last studied.
Notice the two different cut-off dates. Residence and community documents run from 01.01.2026, while EWS and income certificates must be from 01.04.2026 or later. Getting a fresh certificate from a Taluk or Revenue office takes days in most families, and you have until 6 August. Start that today if you have not already.
Meritorious Sports Persons: Two Different Routes
MSP candidates have an extra step, and it is not the same step for everyone:
- Puducherry region MSP candidates must submit a copy of the application and self-attested copies of the sports certificates in person at the CENTAC office, Kamarajar Manimandapam, on or before 06.08.2026, 5.00 p.m.
- Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam region MSP candidates must upload self-attested scanned copies of the sports certificates as a single PDF file in the login dashboard, on or before 06.08.2026, 5.00 p.m.
Same deadline, different method. In person for Puducherry region, single PDF upload for the other three regions.
The Court Case MSP Candidates Should Know About
The notification adds a caution in bold. The guidelines for admission under the Meritorious Sports Persons quota, issued as G.O. No. 16 dated 14.07.2026, are subject to the outcome of W.P. No. 28148 of 2026 and W.P. No. 29331 of 2026, which are pending before the Hon'ble High Court of Madras.
In plain terms: apply under MSP exactly as the notification says, but understand that how this quota is finally worked out can change depending on what the High Court decides. That is CENTAC telling you in advance, which is fair warning, not a reason to skip applying.
Four Ways to Get Your Application Rejected
The notification lists these plainly, so treat them as rules rather than advice:
- 1Entering the wrong rank. You must enter your NEET All-India Rank against the NEET Rank field, taken from your NEET 2026 score card. Not your state rank, not your category rank.
- 2Submitting duplicate applications. If a single candidate submits more than one application, both are rejected and the candidature is cancelled. One application per candidate.
- 3Claiming nativity or residence in more than one state. Applications claiming nativity or residency in multiple states are rejected.
- 4Producing a fake certificate for a quota benefit. These applications are rejected, and the notification states that legal action follows in accordance with law.
CENTAC also treats submission of the online form as your acceptance of every term in the UG NEET 2026 Information Brochure, whether you read it or not. Read it.
Dates, Website and Helpline
- Online applications opened: 30.07.2026
- Last date for submission of online applications: 06.08.2026, 5.00 p.m.
- MSP certificate submission (all regions): on or before 06.08.2026, 5.00 p.m.
- Website: www.centacpuducherry.in
- Helpline: 0413-2655570 or 0413-2655571, working hours 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Grievances: through the Login Dashboard on the CENTAC portal
The 5.00 p.m. cut-off on 6 August is a real cut-off, not the end of that day. Portals slow down on the last afternoon of every admission cycle in this country. Do not plan to submit at 4.45 p.m.
What CENTAC Does Not Cover
This trips up families comparing options in Puducherry, so it is worth stating clearly. CENTAC handles seats in the U.T. Government colleges and the unaided self-financing colleges of Puducherry. It does not handle every medical seat physically located in Puducherry:
- JIPMER, being a central institute, fills its M.B.B.S. seats through the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), not through CENTAC.
- Deemed universities based in Puducherry fill their seats through MCC deemed university counselling, again not through CENTAC.
- The 15% All India Quota in government colleges is also an MCC process.
So if your plan includes JIPMER or a deemed university, a CENTAC application alone does not cover you. You register separately with MCC for those.
Common Questions About CENTAC UG NEET 2026
Who can apply for CENTAC UG NEET 2026?
Any candidate who qualified in NEET UG 2026 and meets the residence or nationality condition for the quota being claimed. Government and Telugu minority quota seats need residence in the U.T. of Puducherry. Management, self-supporting and NRI quota seats are open to candidates from other states and to eligible OCI, NRI and foreign national candidates.
What is the last date to apply for CENTAC 2026?
6 August 2026, 5.00 p.m., for the online application. The same deadline applies to MSP sports certificate submission, in person for the Puducherry region and as a single PDF upload for Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam.
Can students from other states apply to CENTAC?
Yes, but only under the All India Management Quota, the Self-Supporting and National Self-Supporting seats, and the NRI quota. Government quota seats in Puducherry are for residents of the U.T. of Puducherry only.
How much does the CENTAC 2026 application cost?
₹500 for SC, ST and PwD candidates under government quota, ₹1,000 for other government quota candidates, ₹2,000 for management quota, and ₹5,000 for NRI, NRI Sponsored, OCI, OCI Sponsored and foreign national candidates.
Which rank do I enter in the CENTAC application?
Your NEET All-India Rank, exactly as printed on your NEET 2026 score card. The notification highlights this specifically because candidates enter the wrong rank every year.
Does CENTAC cover JIPMER admission?
No. JIPMER is a central institute and its M.B.B.S. seats are filled through MCC counselling. The same applies to deemed universities in Puducherry and to the 15% All India Quota.
Can I submit two applications to be safe?
No. Two applications from the same candidate get both applications rejected and the candidature cancelled. Fill one application carefully instead.
Where Gyan Sanchaar Fits In
CENTAC registration, certificate verification, merit lists and counselling are run entirely by the Centralised Admission Committee, Government of Puducherry. Gyan Sanchaar has no role in that process and cannot submit, track or influence this application for you.
It is worth repeating one thing the notification implies and every admission season proves. M.B.B.S., B.D.S., B.A.M.S. and B.V.Sc. seats, including management, self-supporting and NRI seats, are allotted only through CENTAC counselling here, or through MCC where MCC has jurisdiction. Nobody outside those offices can arrange a seat for you. If a consultant offers you a confirmed Puducherry medical seat for a fee, that is not a shortcut, and the notification's own warning about fake certificates and legal action tells you how such claims end.
What Gyan Sanchaar can help with, while your CENTAC application is in process: if you are also looking at options outside Puducherry, you can browse colleges verified against UGC, NAAC and AICTE or NMC records, compare fees and courses state by state, and apply directly from your dashboard, free, with no agents and no application fee. B.Sc. Nursing and allied health courses at many private colleges admit directly against your NEET UG 2026 score, outside the MBBS and BDS counselling system entirely.
Filling one form here does not put your phone number on a list sold to fifty colleges. Only the colleges you choose see your details, and a counsellor from that college gets in touch, not a call centre. Keeping a second door open costs you nothing while you wait for the CENTAC merit list.
