প্রতি বছর, আসাম, মেঘালয়, মণিপুর, নাগাল্যান্ড এবং অন্যান্য উত্তর-পূর্বাঞ্চলীয় রাজ্যের হাজার হাজার ছাত্রছাত্রী কলেজে ভর্তির জন্য প্রস্তুতি নেয় — প্রায়শই নির্ভরযোগ্য তথ্যের সীমিত সুযোগ নিয়ে এবং দিকনির্দেশ দেওয়ার মতো কোনো বিশ্বাসযোগ্য মানুষ ছাড়াই।
প্রচলিত ব্যবস্থাটি ত্রুটিপূর্ণ ছিল। পরামর্শদাতারা ফি নিতেন। এজেন্টরা এমন কলেজের জন্য জোর দিতেন যেগুলি কমিশন দিত, ছাত্রছাত্রীর উপযোগী কলেজ নয়। পরিবারগুলি শোনা কথার ভিত্তিতে সিদ্ধান্ত নিত। ছোট শহরের ছাত্রছাত্রীরা বিশেষভাবে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হতো।
এই পরিস্থিতি বদলাতেই Gyan Sanchaar তৈরি করা হয়েছে — এমন একটি প্ল্যাটফর্ম, যেখানে প্রতিটি কলেজ স্বাধীনভাবে যাচাই করা হয়, প্রতিটি আবেদন বিনামূল্যে, এবং প্রতিটি ছাত্রছাত্রী তারা যেখান থেকেই আসুক না কেন, একই মানের তথ্য পায়।
আমরা কোনো এজেন্ট নই। আমরা ছাত্রছাত্রীদের কাছ থেকে কোনো টাকা নিই না। উত্তর-পূর্ব ভারতের ছাত্রছাত্রীদের একই ন্যায্য সুযোগ দেওয়ার জন্যই আমরা আছি, যা দেশের অন্য জায়গার ছাত্রছাত্রীরা ইতিমধ্যেই পায়।

Kumar Sanjay Krishna is a retired IAS officer of the 1985 batch, Assam-Meghalaya cadre, who served as Chief Secretary of Assam in 2019–20 — the state's senior-most administrative post. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he held charge of Home & Political, Revenue & Disaster Management, Planning & Development, and Forest & Environment at the state level, alongside central postings including Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance, and Director, Tea Board of India in New York. He studied Physics at St. Stephen's College and Delhi University, with further training in public policy at Harvard, UC Berkeley and Syracuse University.
